The Pacific Islands Region Acoustic Telemetry (PIRAT) Network is hiring a part-time Graduate Assistant that will assist with management of an acoustic telemetry (animal tracking) database.

The PIRAT Network Graduate Assistant will coordinate with PIRAT Network members to ensure timely submission of telemetry data and with Ocean Tracking Network collaborators to ensure timely and accurate integration of PIRAT Network data into the OTN Database. Additionally, this position will conduct scientific dives to install and service marine acoustic telemetry equipment during behavioral studies on inshore and or pelagic fishes.

*Continuation of position is subject to satisfactory work performance, program needs, availability of funds, and meeting the eligibility requirements of the assistantship.

We are looking for a student enrolled in a graduate program with at least two (2) years of relevant work experience or graduate study in data management and scientific diving. The student must be an active-status University of Hawai’i Scientific Diver with 100 ft depth rating and Dive Computer endorsement; as well as possess UHDSP Bluewater diving endorsement, or be able to obtain endorsement within 6 weeks of hire.

Supported by the Integrated Islands Ocean Observing System (through PacIOOS), the PIRAT Network was established to foster data sharing and collaboration among scientists and researchers for the study of aquatic animals.
