Percent Depth

These model simulations use a terrain-following "sigma" coordinate system to define depth within the ocean, approximated by percentages in the pull-down menu where 0% would be the surface and 100% would be the ocean floor. For instance, 50% depth in a shallow coastal area could mean 100 feet while 50% at a distant offshore location could mean more than a mile deep.
