NOAA Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI)

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps provide a concise summary of coastal resources that are at risk if an oil or chemical spill occurs nearby. Examples of at-risk resources include biological resources (such as birds and shellfish beds), sensitive shorelines (such as marshes and tidal flats), and human-use resources (such as public beaches and parks). Created by NOAA Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R) in conjunction with state and federal government agencies and industry.

NOTE: ESI maps for the state of Hawaiʻi currently only include Hawaiʻi Island in the WMS service from NOAA OR&R. They hope to fold in the remaining Main Hawaiian Islands in the near future.
