Readings of tsunami wave heights at various locations in and around Hawaiʻi from 1946 onwards. Tsunamis have killed more people in the State of Hawaiʻi than all other natural disasters combined. From 1900 to 1964, a tsunami with run-up wave heights exceeding 1 meter occurred an average of once every five years.
