This nearshore sensor (nss_cwb_005_002) operated for a month between August 9 and September 11, 2024. It was located within Pōkaʻī Bay on the Waiʻanae coast of the Leeward (West) Shore of Oʻahu in the State of Hawaiʻi. One of three nearshore sensors deployed as part of a monitoring study, Site 2 was located in the central part of the bay, about 250 m (820 ft) from shore. The sensor package was mounted to the sea floor at approximately 4.2 meters depth. Data were collected every 4 minutes.

These data were collected by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Department of Oceanography for the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Health Clean Water Branch (CWB). PacIOOS maintained the nearshore sensor under the supervision of Dr. Margaret McManus and lab, and enables easy access to the data. The CWB used these data to assess water quality in the bay to determine whether state water quality standards are being met and to understand the persistence of pollutants under varying conditions.
