Abstract:
A 50-m resolution gridded synthesis of all available bathymetry (ocean depth) data for the main Hawaiian Islands, including ship-borne multibeam sonar surveys, from the Hawaii Mapping Research Group (HMRG) in the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Land topography from USGS DEMs are included in the grid as well. For a grayscale hillshade image layer of this dataset's bathymetry, see "hi_hmrg_all_bathy50m_hillshade" in the distribution links listed in the metadata.
Purpose:
PacIOOS provides timely, reliable, and accurate ocean information to support a safe, clean, productive ocean and resilient coastal zone in the U.S. Pacific Islands region.

The Pacific Islands Ocean Observing System (PacIOOS) is funded through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a Regional Association within the U.S. Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS).
