This nearshore sensor (nss_007) is located at the Uliga dock inside the lagoon on the eastern edge of Majuro Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI). The sensor package is mounted to the sea floor at approximately 2 meters depth. This instrument does not report in real-time. Data are logged every 4 minutes and retrieved periodically. PacIOOS nearshore sensors monitor coastal water conditions to help provide early indications of potentially polluted run-off from storm drainage, sewage spills, and soil erosion from land-based waterways such as streams and other outflows that lead directly into the ocean. Owned and maintained by PacIOOS under the supervision of Dr. Margaret McManus and lab. Key partners include the University of Hawaiʻi Sea Grant College Program and the College of the Marshall Islands.
